February is Children's Dental Health Month! According to JADA (Journal of the American Dental Association), millions of school hours are lost per year due to dental-related issues. Creating an excellent oral hygiene routine at a young age is beneficial for so many reasons. We recommend bringing your child in for their first visit at the age of one! Remember, it’s always a good idea to start those good habits when they are young. Children’s teeth are at risk for decay as soon as they appear, so teach oral care habits early!
Though COVID-19 has brought many lifestyle changes to our lives, use this time as an opportunity also to show your children or children you may know the importance of oral health. With working from home or doing remote learning from home, children have greater access to brushing and flossing from home more often during the day. After every meal or remote learning session, please encourage them to make that pit stop to the sink to rinse, brush, and floss!
